About Jan Roberson Lynskey
Jan Roberson Lynskey is a resident of
Harpswell, Maine. Although inspired by her
deep love of the sea, woods and all things Maine, she also brings to her
paintings scenes from travels overseas.
A graduate of The Waynflete School in
Portland Maine, Jan received a BA and MA Ed from William and Mary in
Williamsburg, Virginia. She married, had children and a teaching career for
30 years. Then in 1995 she returned to Maine and began concentrating on her
art. She began studies with local teachers and then enrolled in the art
program at UMA. She transferred to USM in order to pursue a BFA, which she
received in 2005. In addition she has studied at
Maine College of Art and
Lyme Academy of Art. Also, she attended workshops with such prominent artists
as Albert Handell, Richard McKinley and Lorenzo Chavez.
In 2005 she went to
Russia to study with pastelist Serguei Oussik. She has been juried into
The
Pastel Society of America as an Associate. She has participated in
exhibitions at Prouts Neck, Waynflete, South Portland, and Cape Elizabeth.
Jan was invited to exhibit at Thomas College in Waterville and Key Bank in
Damariscotta.
She is Vice President of Pastel Painters of Maine, and is
past-president of MerryMeeting Art Assoc. Jan has been active in many local
shows, winning awards at The Skillins Show, Saco Art Show, Saco Bay Artists
shows and Pastel Painters of Maine Members Show.
She exhibits at
Boothbay
Regional Art Foundation Gallery, Kittery Art Association Gallery, Bookland
in Brunswick and at Bailey Island Library Hall. She is a member of
Pastel
Painters of Maine, The Vermont Pastel Society, and New Hampshire Pastel
Society.
